CABEI’s mission in the Institutional Strategy 2020-2024 is to promote economic integration and balanced economic and social development of the Central American region, which includes the founding countries and the non-founding regional countries and in harmony with the objectives of its extra-regional members.
To become the sustainable development and economic integration reference of the region, and to effectively impact in the well-being of the society.
The Central American regional economic integration process began on December 13th, 1960 with the signing of the General Treaty on Central America Economic Integration, which included the establishment of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration.
CABEI has become the financial arm for the integration and development of Central America, a unique institution, given its founding objectives and principles, as well as the ample scope of its operations.
From 1960 to the present CABEI, has been led by visionary professionals who have guided the Bank in achieving its original objectives.
